حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَلَوْ غَضَّ النَّاسُ إِلَى الرُّبْعِ لِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الثُّلُثُ وَالثُّلُثُ كَثِيرٌ أَوْ كَبِيرٌ
English Translation
Telah bercerita kepada kami [Qutaibah bin Sa'ad] telah bercerita kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Hisyam bin 'Urwah] dari [bapaknya] dari [Ibnu 'Abbas radliallahu 'anhuma] berkata: "Kalau seandainya orang-orang itu mau mengurangi hingga seperempatnya, karena Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Sepertiganya dan sepertiga itu banyak atau besar".

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
