حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الصَّيْدِ قَالَ إِذَا رَمَيْتَ سَهْمَكَ فَاذْكُرْ اسْمَ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهُ قَدْ قَتَلَ فَكُلْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَجِدَهُ قَدْ وَقَعَ فِي مَاءٍ فَإِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي الْمَاءُ قَتَلَهُ أَوْ سَهْمُكَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya bin Ayyub] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdullah bin Mubarak] telah mengabarkan kepada kami ['Ashim] dari [As Sya'bi] dari ['Adi bin Hatim] dia berkata, "Saya pernah bertanya kepada Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam mengenai hewan buruan, beliau menjawab: "Apabila kamu memanah maka sebutlah nama Allah, jika kamu mendapatinya telah terbunuh maka makanlah (hewan buruan tersebut), kecuali jika kamu dapati ia tenggelam di air, sebab kamu tidak tahu apakah air itu yang membunuhnya ataukah panahmu."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
