حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَمُسَدَّدٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ الْأَغَرِّ الْمُزَنِيِّ قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ لَيُغَانُ عَلَى قَلْبِي وَإِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada Kami [Sulaiman bin Harb] serta [Musaddad] mereka berkata; telah menceritakan kepada Kami [Hammad] dari [Tsabit] dari [Abu Burdah] dari [Al Agharr Al Muzani], Musaddad yang pernah menyertai Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam dalam haditsnya mengatakan; Rasulullah shallAllahu wa'alaihi wa sallam bersabda: "Sesungguhnya hatiku pernah tertutup dan aku beristighfar kepada Allah dalam sehari sebanyak seratus kali."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
