حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي ضِرَارٍ عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَلَمَا صُمْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا صُمْنَا مَعَهُ ثَلَاثِينَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ahmad bin Mani'] dari [Ibnu Abu Zaidah], dari [Isa bin Dinar] dari [ayahnya], dari ['Amr bin Al Harits bin Abu Dhirar] dari [Ibnu Mas'ud], ia berkata; sungguh kami berpuasa bersama Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam dua puluh sembilan hari lebih sering daripada kami berpuasa bersamanya tiga puluh hari.

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
