حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَسَنٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يُظَلَّلُ عَلَيْهِ وَالزِّحَامُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ مِنْ الْبِرِّ الصِّيَامُ فِي السَّفَرِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Al Walid Ath Thayalisi], telah menceritakan kepada kami [Syu'bah] dari [Muhammad bin Abdurrahman bin Sa'd bin Zurarah] dari [Muhammad bin 'Amr bin Hasan] dari [Jabir bin Abdullah] bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam pernah melihat seorang laki-laki yang dinaungi dan orang-orang mengerumuninya, lalu beliau berkata: "Bukanlah termasuk kebaikan berpuasa dalam perjalanan."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
