حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ السَّرْحِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَلَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ تَلَقَّاهُ النَّاسُ فَلَقِيتُهُ مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ عَلَى ثَنِيَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu As Sarh], telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Az Zuhri], dari [As Saib bin Yazid], ia berkata; tatkala Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam datang ke Madinah dari perang Tabuk, orang-orang menemui beliau, sementara aku menemui beliau bersama anak-anak kecil di atas Tsaniyah Al Wada'.

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
