حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ قَالَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الشَّامِيُّ وَلَا إِخَالُنِي رَأَيْتُ شَأْمِيًّا أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ يَعْنِي حُرَيْزَ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ahmad bin 'Abdah Adl Dalbbi] telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Mu'adz bin Mu'adz] ia berkata, "Abu Utsman Asy Syami mengabarkan kepadaku, dan aku tidak pernah melihat orang yang Syam yang lebih baik darinya, yaitu Huraiz bin Utsman."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
