حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَتِيقٍ وَأَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍأَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةَ أَعْبُدٍ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Musaddad] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hammad bin Zaid] dari [Yahya bin 'Atiq] dan [Ayyub] dari [Muhammad bin Sirin] dari [Imran bin Hushain], bahwa seorang laki-laki telah memerdekakan enam budak dengan syarat sepeninggalnya, sementara ia tidak memiliki harta selain mereka. Kemudian hal tersebut sampai kepada Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam. Beliau pun mengundi di antara mereka dan memerdekakan dua orang dan menyisakan empat orang sebagai budak."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
