حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جَرْهَدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَكَانَ جَرْهَدٌ هَذَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الصُّفَّةِ قَالَ جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَنَا وَفَخِذِي مُنْكَشِفَةٌ فَقَالَ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ الْفَخِذَ عَوْرَةٌ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdullah bin Maslamah] dari [Malik] dari [Abu An Nadlr] dari [Zur'ah bin Abdurrahman bin Jarhad] dari [Ayahnya] ia berkata, " [Jarhad] adalah termasuk para penghuni Shuffah. Ia berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam duduk di antara kami, sementara pahaku terbuka. Beliau lalu bersabda: "Sesungguhnya paha adalah aurat."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
