حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى صَبِيًّا قَدْ حُلِقَ بَعْضُ شَعْرِهِ وَتُرِكَ بَعْضُهُ فَنَهَاهُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ احْلِقُوهُ كُلَّهُ أَوْ اتْرُكُوهُ كُلَّهُ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ahmad bin Hanbal] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdurrazaq] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ma'mar] dari [Ayyub] dari [Nafi'] dari [Ibnu Umar] berkata, "Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melihat melihat anak kecil yang rambutnya dicukur sebagian dan disisakan sebagian, lalu beliau melarang hal itu. Beliau bersabda: "Cukurlah semua atau sisakan semua."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
