حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَيَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْفِطْرَةُ خَمْسٌ أَوْ خَمْسٌ مِنْ الْفِطْرَةِ الْخِتَانُ وَالِاسْتِحْدَادُ وَنَتْفُ الْإِبِطِ وَتَقْلِيمُ الْأَظْفَارِ وَقَصُّ الشَّارِبِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Musaddad] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Az Zuhri] dari [Sa'id] dari [Abu Hurairah] dan sampai kepada Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, "Fitrah (suci) itu ada pada lima hal, atau ada lima hal dari fitrah; khitan, mencukur bulu kemaluan, mencabut bulu ketiak, memotong kuku dan mencukur kumis."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
