حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ مَيْمُونٍ الْقَنَّادِ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ رُكُوبِ النِّمَارِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًاقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد أَبُو قِلَابَةَ لَمْ يَلْقَ مُعَاوِيَةَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Humaid bin Mas'adah] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Isma'il] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Khalid] dari [Maimun Al Qannad] dari [Abu Qilabah] dari [Mu'awiyah bin Abu Sufyan] berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melarang mengendarai macan dan mengenakan emas kecuali yang telah diputus-putus." Abu Dawud berkata, "Abu Qilabah belum pernah bertemu Mu'awiyah."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
