    قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَتَلَ فِي عِمِّيَّا أَوْ رِمِّيًّا يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُمْ بِحَجَرٍ أَوْ بِسَوْطٍ فَعَقْلُهُ عَقْلُ خَطَإٍ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ عَمْدًا فَقَوَدُ يَدَيْهِ فَمَنْ حَالَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

    English Translation

    Abu Dawud berkata, "Aku mendapat cerita dari [Sa'id bin Sulaiman] dari [Sulaiman bin Katsir] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Amru bin Dinar] dari [Thawus] dari [Ibnu Abbas] ia berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Barangsiapa membunuh dalam keadaan gelap (tidak jelas siapa pembunuh dan bagaimana caranya), atau ketika terjadi saling lempar antara mereka baik dengan batu, cambuk, maka tebusannya adalah tebusan (pembunuhan) karena salah. Dan barangsiapa membunuh dengan sengaja, hukumannya adalah qishas. Barangsiapa menghalangi terlaksananya qishas, maka ia akan mendapat laknat Allah, para malaikat dan manusia."

    Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.

    Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
