حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِهَذِهِ الْحَمْرَاءُ هَبْرٌ هَبْرٌ أَمَا وَاللَّهِ لَوْ قَدْ قَرَعْتُ عَصًا بِعَصًا لَأَذَرَنَّهُمْ كَالْأَمْسِ الذَّاهِبِ يَعْنِي الْمَوَالِيَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Utsman bin Abu Syaibah] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Idris] dari [Al A'masy] ia berkata, "Aku mendengar [Al Hajjaj] berkata di atas mimbar, "Orang-orang Hamra (para badui) ini telah berhak untuk dipotong tangannya. Demi Allah, sekiranya aku menginginkan kebinasaan mereka, maka aku akan biarkan mereka seperti hari-hari kemarin." Maksudnya adalah orang-orang asing di luar Arab.

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
