حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ خَيْرُ الْمَجَالِسِ أَوْسَعُهَاقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Qa'nabi] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami ['Abdurrahman bin Abu Al Mawal] dari ['Abdurrahman bin Abu Amrah Al Anshari] dari [Abu Sa'id Al Khudri] ia berkata, "Aku mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Sebaik-baik majlis adalah yang paling luas." Abu Dawud berkata, "Dia itu adalah 'Abdurrahman bin Amru bin Amrah Al Anshari."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
