حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْوَرَكَانِيُّ وَهَنَّادٌ أَنَّ شَرِيكًا أَخْبَرَهُمْ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَكُنَّا إِذَا أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَلَسَ أَحَدُنَا حَيْثُ يَنْتَهِي
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Ja'far Al Waraki] dan [Hannad] bahwa [Syarik] mengabarkan kepada mereka dari [Simak] dari [Jabir bin Samurah] ia berkata, "Jika kami mendatangi Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, maka salah seorang dari kami akan duduk di tempat yang masih kosong (barisan terakhir)."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
