حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ غَيْلَانَ عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَوْ عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تُصَاحِبْ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنًا وَلَا يَأْكُلْ طَعَامَكَ إِلَّا تَقِيٌّ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Amru bin Aun] berkata, telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Ibnul Mubarak] dari [Haiwah bin Syuraih] dari [Salim bin Ghailan] dari [Al Walid bin Qais] dari [Abu Sa'id] atau dari [Abu Al Haitsam] dari [Abu Sa'id] dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, beliau bersabda: "Janganlah kalian berkawan kecuali dengan seorang mukmin, dan jangan sampai memakan makananmu kecuali orang yang bertakwa."

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
