حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ النَّحْوِيِّ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ{ وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمْ الْغَاوُونَ }فَنَسَخَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَاسْتَثْنَى فَقَالَ{ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا }
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ahmad bin Muhammad Al Marwazi] ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepadaku [Ali bin Husain] dari [Bapaknya] dari [Yazid An Nahwi] dari [Ikrimah] dari [Ibnu Abbas] membaca: '(dan penyair-penyair itu diikuti oleh orang-orang yang sesat) ' -Qs. Asy Syura: 224- ia berkata, "Allah menghapus ayat itu lalu memberi pengecualian." Kemudian Ibnu Abbas membaca: '(kecuali orang-orang (penyair-penyair) yang beriman dan beramal shalih dan banyak menyebut nama Allah) ' -Qs. Asy Syura: 227-.

Imam Abu Dawud compiled Sunan Abu Dawud from approximately 500,000 hadiths, selecting 5,274. His collection is particularly focused on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and legal rulings. He personally wrote to Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal informing him of the work, and received his approval.
Abu Dawud said: 'I wrote 500,000 hadiths of the Prophet ﷺ, then selected this book from them.' He focused especially on rulings related to halal and haram.
