حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَخَنَسَ الْإِبْهَامَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Al Walid] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Syu'bah] dari [Jabalah bin Sujaim] berkata, aku mendengar [Ibnu'Umar radliallahu 'anhuma] berkata,, Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Bulan itu begini begini". Lalu Beliau mengepalkan ibu jari tangannya saat menyebutkan hitungan yang ketiga.

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
