حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَأَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ نَذَرَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ قَالَ أُرَاهُ قَالَ لَيْلَةً قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْفِ بِنَذْرِكَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami ['Ubaid bin Isma'il] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Usamah] dari ['Ubaidullah] dari [Nafi'] dari [Ibnu 'Umar radliallahu 'anhuma] bahwa 'Umar radliallahu 'anhu bernadzar di zaman Jahiliyyah untuk beri'tikaf di Al Masjidil Haram. Dia ('Ubaid) berkata: "Aku menduga dia berkata: Untuk satu malam". Maka Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam berkata, kepadanya: "Tunaikanlah nadzarmu itu".

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
