حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ قُرَّةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَأَقْبَلْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعِي رَجُلَانِ مِنْ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ فَقُلْتُ مَا عَمِلْتُ أَنَّهُمَا يَطْلُبَانِ الْعَمَلَ فَقَالَ لَنْ أَوْ لَا نَسْتَعْمِلُ عَلَى عَمَلِنَا مَنْ أَرَادَهُ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Musaddad] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya] dari [Qurrah bin Khalid] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada saya [Humaid bin Hilal] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Burdah] dari [Abu Musa radliallahu 'anhu] berkata; Aku menghadap menemui Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersama dua orang suku Al Asyariyyin, aku bertanya: "Apa yang harus aku lakukan bila keduanya mengharapkan pekerjaan?" Beliau bersabda: "Sekali-kali jangan atau janganlah engkau memperkerjakan dalam urusan kita ini orang yang berambisi menginginkannya".

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
