حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ هُوَ ابْنُ مِغْوَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ مُصَرِّفٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَاهَلْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْصَى فَقَالَ لَا فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ كُتِبَ عَلَى النَّاسِ الْوَصِيَّةُ أَوْ أُمِرُوا بِالْوَصِيَّةِ قَالَ أَوْصَى بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ
English Translation
Telah bercerita kepada kami [Khollad bin Yahya] telah bercerita kepada kami [Malik, dia adalah putra Mighwal] telah bercerita kepada kami [Thalhah bin Mushorrif] berkata; Aku bertanya kepada ['Abdullah bin Abi Aufaa radliallahu 'anhuma]: "Apakah Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam pernah berwasiat?" Dia menjawab: "Tidak". Kemudian aku tanya lagi: "Lalu bagaimana berwasiat itu diwajibkan kepada manusia atau mereka diperintahkan supaya berwasiat?" Dia menjawab: "Beliau berwasiat dengan Kitab Allah".

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
