حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَابَيْنَمَا النَّاسُ فِي الصُّبْحِ بِقُبَاءٍ جَاءَهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ اللَّيْلَةَ قُرْآنٌ وَأُمِرَ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْكَعْبَةَ أَلَا فَاسْتَقْبِلُوهَا وَكَانَ وَجْهُ النَّاسِ إِلَى الشَّأْمِ فَاسْتَدَارُوا بِوُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Khalid bin Makhlad] Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sulaiman] Dan telah menceritakan kepadaku [Abdullah bin Dinar] dari [Ibnu Umar radliallahu 'anhuma]; "Tatkala orang-orang sedang shalat shubuh di Quba', datang seseorang lalu berkata, 'Rasulullah Shallallahu'alaihi wasallam pada malam ini mendapat wahyu, beliau diperintahkan menghadap ke Ka'bah'. Maka menghadaplah ke sana! Mereka pun segera beralih ke Ka'bah, padahal sebelumnya wajah-wajah mereka menghadap ke Syam (Baitul Maqdis) '."

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
