قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍحِينَ تُوُفِّيَ أَخُوهَا فَدَعَتْ بِطِيبٍ فَمَسَّتْ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَتْ أَمَا وَاللَّهِ مَا لِي بِالطِّيبِ مِنْ حَاجَةٍ غَيْرَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا
English Translation
(Masih dari jalur periwayatan yang sama dengan hadits sebelumnya) [Zainab] berkata; Aku pernah menemui [Zainab binti Jahsy] ketika saudaranya mati. Lalu ia pun megambil wewangian dan memegangnya seraya berkata; Demi Allah, tidaklah aku berhajat sedikitpun terhadap wewangian ini. Selain aku mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda di atas mimbar: "Tidak halal bagi seorang wanita yang beriman kepada Allah dan hari akhir untuk berkabung terhadap mayit lebih dari tiga malam, kecuali atas suaminya, yakni selama empat bulan sepuluh hari."

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
