حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَطْفِئُوا الْمَصَابِيحَ إِذَا رَقَدْتُمْ وَغَلِّقُوا الْأَبْوَابَ وَأَوْكُوا الْأَسْقِيَةَ وَخَمِّرُوا الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّرَابَ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَلَوْ بِعُودٍ تَعْرُضُهُ عَلَيْهِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Musa bin Isma'il] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hammam] dari ['Atha`] dari [Jabir] bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Matikanlah lampu-lampu kalian apabila kalian hendak tidur, dan tutuplah pintu rumah kalian, tutuplah wadah-wadah kalian serta tutup pula tempat makan dan tempat minum kalian -aku mengira beliau juga bersabda- walaupun hanya dengan sepotong kayu yang dapat menutupinya."

Imam al-Bukhari dedicated 16 years to compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, selecting approximately 7,275 hadiths from over 600,000 narrations he examined. His strict conditions for accepting a hadith — requiring narrator continuity, reliable memory, and confirmed meeting between narrators — make it the most rigorously authenticated hadith collection in Islamic scholarship.
Imam al-Bukhari would perform ghusl and pray two rak'ahs before recording each hadith. Sahih al-Bukhari is universally regarded as the most authentic book after the Quran.
