About Sunan Ibn Majah
Born
209 AH / 824 CE — Qazvin, Iran
Died
273 AH / 887 CE
Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
Hadith #102 in Other Collections
Note: hadith numbers differ between collections — this links to the same number, not the same narration.
