حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ahmad bin Abdah] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Hammad bin Zaid] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ghailan bin Jarir] dari [Abdullah bin Ma'bad Az Zimani] dari [Abu Qotadah] ia berkata, Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Aku berharap kepada Allah bahwa puasa pada hari 'Asyura dapat menghapus dosa setahun yang lalu. "

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
