حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ أَنْبَأَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ عَنْ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَوَهَبَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غُلَامَيْنِ أَخَوَيْنِ فَبِعْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا فَقَالَ مَا فَعَلَ الْغُلَامَانِ قُلْتُ بِعْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا قَالَ رُدَّهُ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Yahya] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Affan] dari [Hammad] berkata, telah memberitakan kepada kami [Al Hajjaj] dari [Al Hakam] dari [Maimun bin Abu Syabib] dari [Ali] ia berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam memberiku hadiah dua budak bersaudara. Kemudian aku menjual seorang dari keduanya. Beliau lantas bertanya: "Apa yang sedang dilakukan oleh kedua budak itu?" Aku menjawab, "Aku telah menjual salah seorang dari keduanya." Beliau bersabda: "Kembalikanlah."

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
