حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ يَقُولُجَالَسْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ سَنَةً فَمَا سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numair] berkata, telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu An Nadhr] dari [Syu'bah] dari [Abdullah bin Abu As Safar] ia berkata; "Aku mendengar [Asy Sya'bi] berkata; " Aku berguru kepada [Ibnu Umar] selama satu tahun, namun aku tidak pernah mendengar ia membacakan satu hadits pun dari Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam."

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
