حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْسُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَمْ تَجُرُّ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ ذَيْلِهَا قَالَ شِبْرًا قُلْتُ إِذًا يَنْكَشِفُ عَنْهَا قَالَ ذِرَاعٌ لَا تَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Bakar] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Mu'tamir bin Sulaiman] dari ['Ubaidillah bin Umar] dari [Nafi'] dari [Sulaiman bin Yasar] dari [Ummu Salamah] dia berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam di tanya, "Berapakah seharusnya seorang wanita memanjangkan kainnya?" beliau menjawab: "Satu jengkal." Aku berkata, "Jika demikian, maka masih memungkinkan untuk tersingkap." Maka beliau bersabda: "(Lebihkanlah) satu hasta, dan jangan sampai lebih dari itu."

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
