حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ وَلْيَعْزِمْ فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا مُكْرِهَ لَهُ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Bakar] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdullah bin Idris] dari [Ibnu 'Ajlan] dari [Abu Az Zinad] dari [Al A'raj] dari [Abu Hurairah] dia berkata; Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Janganlah salah seorang dari kalian mengucapkan; "Ya Allah, ampunilah daku jika Engkau menghendaki." Namun hendaknya ia bersungguh-sungguh dalam memohon, karena sesungguhnya Allah tidak memiliki kebencian."

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
