حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْأُذُنَانِ مِنْ الرَّأْسِ وَكَانَ يَمْسَحُ رَأْسَهُ مَرَّةً وَكَانَ يَمْسَحُ الْمَأْقَيْنِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Ziyad] berkata, telah memberitakan kepada kami [Hammad bin Zaid] dari [Sinan bin Rabi'ah] dari [Syahr bin Hausyab] dari [Abu Umamah] berkata; "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Kedua telinga adalah bagian dari kepala." Dan beliau mengusap kepalanya satu kali serta mengusap dua daun telinganya."

Imam Ibn Majah compiled the last of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah). He travelled widely to collect hadiths — through Iraq, Basra, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia. His collection contains unique narrations not found in the other five collections, though scholars note some weaker chains.
Ibn Majah's collection was later added to the Kutub al-Sittah by Imam al-Maqdisi. It contains approximately 4,341 hadiths including narrations unique to this collection.
