و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَإِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا وَقَالَ إِسْحَقُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُادَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّيْتَ قَالَ لَا قَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِوَفِي رِوَايَةِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
English Translation
Dan telah menceritakan kepada kami [Qutaibah bin Sa'id] dan [Ishaq bin Ibrahim] -Qutaibah berkata- telah menceritakan kepada kami -dan Ishaq berkata- telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Amru] ia mendengar [Jabir bin Abdullah] berkata; Seorang laki-laki masuk Masjid sementara Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam sedang menyampaikan khutbah Jum'at, maka beliau pun bertanya: "Apakah kamu telah shalat?" Laki-laki itu menjawab, "belum." Maka beliau bersabda: "Bangun dan shalatlah dua raka'at." dan dalam riwayat Qutaibah, "Shalatlah dua raka'at."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
