حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَاأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الْوِصَالِ قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya bin Yahya] ia berkata, saya telah membacakan kepada [Malik] dari [Nafi'] dari [Ibnu Umar] radliallahu 'anhuma bahwa Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melarang puasa Wishal, maka para sahabat pun berkata, "Bukankah Anda sendiri melakukan puasa Wishal?" Beliau bersabda: "Sesungguhnya saya tidaklah sebagaimana kalian, karena saya diberi makan dan minum (oleh Rabb-ku)."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
