و حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّاءَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ طَارِقٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ السُّلَمِيُّ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُعْبَدَ اللَّهُ وَيُكْفَرَ بِمَا دُونَهُ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sahl bin Utsman al-Askari] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya bin Zakariya] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sa'ad bin Thariq] dia berkata, telah menceritakan kepadaku [Sa'ad bin Ubaidah as-Sulami] dari [Ibnu Umar] dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, beliau berkata: "Islam didirikan di atas lima dasar: Yaitu agar Allah disembah dan agar selainnya dikufurkan, mendirikan shalat, menunaikan zakat, haji di Baitullah, dan berpuasa Ramadlan."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
