حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ غَنَمٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍفَقِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ إِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ أَوْ كَلْبَ زَرْعٍ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِنَّ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ زَرْعًا
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya bin Yahya] telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Hammad bin Zaid] dari ['Amru bin Dinar] dari [Ibnu Umar], bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam memerintahkan supaya membunuh anjing kecuali anjing untuk berburu atau anjing untuk menjaga hewan ternak." Dikatakan kepada Ibnu Umar, "Sesungghuhnya [Abu Hurairah] pernah berkata, "Atau anjing untuk menjaga tanaman (pertanian)?" Maka [Ibnu Umar] berkata, "Karena Abu Hurairah memiliki ladang."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
