حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنِي إِيَاسُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُأَنَّ رَجُلًا أَكَلَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشِمَالِهِ فَقَالَ كُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ قَالَ لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ قَالَ لَا اسْتَطَعْتَ مَا مَنَعَهُ إِلَّا الْكِبْرُ قَالَ فَمَا رَفَعَهَا إِلَى فِيهِ
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Bakr bin Abu Syaibah]; Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Zaid bin Al Hubab] dari ['Ikrimah bin 'Ammar]; Telah menceritakan kepadaku [Iyas bin Salamah bin Al Akwa']; [Bapaknya] telah menceritakan kepadanya, bahwa seorang laki-laki makan di samping Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam dengan tangan kirinya, Lalu Rasulullah bersabda: "Makanlah dengan tangan kananmu! Dia menjawab; 'Aku tidak bisa.' Beliau bersabda: "Apakah kamu tidak bisa?" -dia menolaknya karena sombong-. Setelah itu tangannya tidak bisa sampai ke mulutnya.

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
