حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي جَمِيعًا عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya] -yaitu Ibnu Sa'id-. (dalam riwayat lain disebutkan) Dan telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Numair] telah menceritakan kepada kami [bapakku] semuanya dari [Ubaidullah] dari [Nafi'] dari [Ibnu Umar] dari Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, beliau bersabda: "Potonglah kumis dan biarkanlah jenggot."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
