حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَالِفُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ أَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَوْفُوا اللِّحَى
English Translation
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sahal bin Utsman] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yazid bin Zurai'] dari [Umar bin Muhammad] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Nafi'] dari [Ibnu Umar] dia berkata, "Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Selisihilah kaum musyrikin, cukurlah kumis dan peliharalah jenggot."

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
