و حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ حِمَارٌ قَدْ وُسِمَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي وَسَمَهُ
English Translation
Dan telah menceritakan kepadaku [Salamah bin Syabib]; Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Hasan bin A'yan]; Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ma'qil] dari [Abu Az Zubair] dari [Jabir] bahwa seekor keledai yang di tato mukanya pernah lewat di hadapan Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam. Maka beliau bersabda: 'Allah mengutuk orang yang mentatonya.'

Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj was a student of Imam al-Bukhari. He compiled Sahih Muslim selecting from approximately 300,000 hadiths, arranging his collection thematically and grouping all chains of each hadith together — making it uniquely easy to study the complete transmission history of a single narration.
Sahih Muslim took 15 years to complete. Its unique arrangement — all isnads for one hadith in one place — remains unmatched in the hadith literature.
