أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَسَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةٌ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Qudamah] dia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Jarir] dari [Manshur] dari [Habib] dari [Thawus] dia berkata; berkata [Ibnu 'Umar]; "Ada seorang laki-laki bertanya kepada Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam tentang shalat malam? Lalu beliau bersabda: "Dua rakaat-dua rakaat. Jika kamu khawatir akan segera datang waktu Subuh maka (cukup) satu rakaat."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
