أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ الْمَوْتَ إِمَّا مُحْسِنًا فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ خَيْرًا وَإِمَّا مُسِيئًا فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَسْتَعْتِبَ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Harun bin 'Abdullah]; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ma'an] dia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibrahim bin Sa'ad] dari [Az Zuhri] dari ['Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah] dari [Abu Hurairah] bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Janganlah salah seorang dari kalian berharap untuk mati. Adakalanya dia adalah orang yang baik, maka barangkali akan bertambah baik; dan adakalanya ia adalah orang yang -selalu berbuat- jelek, maka barangkali ia tidak akan mengulangi perbuatan jelek dan bertaubat."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
