أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍأَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى{ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ الْخَيْطُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنْ الْخَيْطِ الْأَسْوَدِ }قَالَ هُوَ سَوَادُ اللَّيْلِ وَبَيَاضُ النَّهَارِ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami ['Ali bin Hujr] dia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Jarir] dari [Mutharrif] dari [Asy Sya'bi] dari ['Adi bin Hatim] bahwa ia pernah bertanya kepada Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam tentang firman Allah Ta'ala: " Hingga terang bagimu benang putih dan benang hitam." (Qs. Al Baqarah 2: 187) Beliau bersabda: "Yaitu hitamnya malam dan putihnya siang."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
