أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ خَرَجَ مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصَّفَا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ نَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Salamah], ia berkata; telah memberitakan kepada kami [Abdur Rahman bin Al Qasim], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepadaku [Malik] dari [Ja'far bin Muhammad] dari [ayahnya] dari [Jabir], ia berkata; saya pernah mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam ketika keluar dari masjid hendak menuju Shafa dan Marwah beliau bersabda: "Kita mulai dengan yang dimulai Allah."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
