أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ زُهْرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى عُثْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ يَوْمٍ فِيمَا سِوَاهُ مِنْ الْمَنَازِلِ
English Translation
Telah mengkhabarkan kepada kami ['Amr bin Manshur], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abdullah bin Yusuf], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Laits] dari [Zahrah bin Ma'bad], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepadaku [Abu Shalih] sahaya Utsman, ia berkata; saya mendengar [Utsman bin Affan] radliallahu 'anhu berkata; saya pernah mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Berjaga satu hari di jalan Allah adalah lebih baik daripada seribu hari di tempat-tempat selainnya."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
