أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَدَخَلْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْتَهُ فَإِذَا فِلَقٌ وَخَلٌّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلْ فَنِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami ['Amru bin Ali] berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya] berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Mutsanna bin Sa'id] berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Thalhah bin Nafi'] dari [Jabir] berkata, "Aku bersama Nabi shallallahu 'alahi wa sallam memasuki rumahnya, dan ternyata di dalam ada sepotong roti dan cuka, kemudian Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Makanlah, lauk yang paling enak adalah cuka."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
