أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَنَّةَ الْخُزَاعِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَطِيبَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِعَظْمٍ أَوْ رَوْثٍ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Ahmad bin Amr bin As Sarh] dia berkata; telah memberitakan kepada kami [Ibnu Wahab] berkata; telah mengabarkan kepadaku [Yunus] dari [Ibnu Syihab] dari [Abu Utsman bin Sanah Al Khuzaa'i] dari [Abdullah bin Mas'ud] bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam melarang bersuci dengan tulang atau kotoran hewan."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
