أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَسُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الرُّطَبِ بِالتَّمْرِ فَقَالَ أَيَنْقُصُ إِذَا يَبِسَ قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَنَهَى عَنْهُ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Ali bin Maimun], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Muhammad bin Yusuf Al Firyabi], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Sufyan] dari [Isma'il bin Umayyah] dari [Abdullah bin Yazid] dari [Zaid] dari [Sa'd bin Malik], ia berkata; Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam ditanya mengenai jual beli ruthab dengan kurma. Lalu beliau bertanya: "Apakah ruthab akan berkurang apabila mengering?" mereka berkata; ya. Kemudian beliau melarang.

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
