أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُجَالِدِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَىعَنْ السَّلَفِ قَالَ كُنَّا نُسْلِفُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فِي الْبُرِّ وَالشَّعِيرِ وَالتَّمْرِ إِلَى قَوْمٍ لَا أَدْرِي أَعِنْدَهُمْ أَمْ لَاوَابْنُ أَبْزَى قَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ
English Translation
Telah mengabarkan kepada kami ['Ubaidullah bin Sa'id], ia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Yahya] dari [Syu'bah] dari [Abdullah bin Abu Al Mujalid], ia berkata; saya bertanya kepada [Ibnu Abu Aufa] mengenai jual beli secara salaf. Ia berkata; dahulu kami melakukan salaf pada zaman Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, Abu Bakr dan Umar dalam gandum dan jewawut serta kurma kepada suatu kaum yang saya tidak mengetahui apakah mereka memiliki atau tidak. Dan [Ibnu Abzaa] mengatakan seperti itu.

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
