أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍوأَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ تُطْعِمُ الطَّعَامَ وَتَقْرَأُ السَّلَامَ عَلَى مَنْ عَرَفْتَ وَمَنْ لَمْ تَعْرِفْ
English Translation
Telah mengkhabarkan kepada kami [Qutaibah], dia berkata; telah menceritakan kepada kami [Al Laits] dari [Yazid bin Abu Habib] dari [Abu Al Khair] dari [Abdullah bin 'Amr] bahwa seorang laki-laki bertanya kepada Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam; (Amalan) Islam manakah yang paling baik?" Beliau bersabda: "Engkau memberi makan dan mengucapkan salam kepada orang yang engkau kenal dan yang tidak engkau kenal."

Imam an-Nasa'i applied the strictest conditions of all Sunan compilers. He first wrote a larger collection (as-Sunan al-Kubra) then condensed it into al-Mujtaba. He was particularly rigorous in identifying weaknesses in narrator chains, resulting in a collection of very high reliability.
An-Nasa'i's conditions for accepting narrators were stricter than those of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, making al-Mujtaba one of the most critically refined of the Sunan collections.
